Erskine: cutting IT and telecoms costs for Scotland's leading veterans charity

| Erskine | Charity: veterans care, founded 1916 | Scotland | IT procurement review, telecoms cost analysis, business mobile management, print review, connectivity |
Erskine, Scotland's leading veterans care charity, had several legacy IT and telecoms contracts, with some suppliers raising prices by up to 1,200%. Indigo reviewed the whole estate, moved Erskine onto charity pricing for Microsoft 365 and Azure, removed unused mobiles and prepared its phone lines, alarms and faxes for the PSTN switch-off. The result was significant savings and full visibility of every contract.
The brief
Erskine had built up multiple IT and telecoms contracts over many years. Costs were rising, some suppliers had applied extreme price increases, and there was no single view of what the charity was paying for. As a charity, Erskine needed every pound of donated money to go as far as possible.
What we did
- Microsoft licensing: moved Erskine onto Microsoft 365 charity pricing and optimised Azure licensing
- Business mobiles: introduced a zero-usage policy to identify and remove devices nobody was using
- Suppliers: replaced suppliers that had raised prices by up to 1,200%
- PSTN switch-off: reviewed legacy phone lines, alarms and faxes ahead of the copper network closing on 31 January 2027
- Print and connectivity: reviewed print services and connectivity contracts
Results
- Significant cost savings from cutting and combining contracts
- Full use of the charity pricing Erskine is entitled to
- A modern, cloud-first setup with less operational risk
- Full visibility of the IT and telecoms estate for the first time
"This review has been transformative. Not only did we uncover significant savings, but we now have full visibility over our IT and telecoms estate." Eddie Foy, Digital Change Consultant, Erskine
