Venue WiFi and Connectivity in Scotland
Connectivity that holds up when the venue is full.
Indigo Unified Communications designs and manages WiFi and internet connectivity for venues, stadiums and family entertainment centres across Scotland. We delivered a stadium WiFi, connectivity and telephony upgrade for Falkirk Football Club, we provide WiFi and connectivity across Wonderworld Group's 10 sites, and we've supported SWG3's IT, connectivity, WiFi and telephony since 2023. We size every connection and network for peak crowds and keep card payments on their own protected network.
Why venue connectivity is different
An office network has to cope with the same few dozen people every day. A venue has to cope with a sold-out gig, a match day or a packed school holiday, when thousands of phones, card terminals, ticket scanners and cameras all compete for the same connection. That's exactly when it can't fail. Venue connectivity needs:
- Capacity for peak crowds, not average days
- Card payments and ticketing that keep working when guest WiFi is busy
- Separate networks for guests, staff, tills, ticketing and CCTV
- Resilience, so a single line failure doesn't stop the bars and the gates
- Consistency across sites for operators running several venues
What's included
- A site survey covering capacity, coverage and how people move around the venue
- Leased lines or full fibre sized for peak demand, with automatic 4G/5G failover
- High-density Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi, with the right number and placement of access points for crowds
- Separate, protected networks for card payments (supporting PCI DSS, the card industry's security standard), ticketing, staff, CCTV and guests
- Guest WiFi with a branded login page and fair-use limits, so one guest can't slow everyone else down
- Multi-site management from one central controller, for operators with several venues
- 24/7 monitoring of every line, with faults reported and chased by our engineers
- Out-of-hours and event-day engineer cover by arrangement
- One team for connectivity, WiFi, IT support and phones

Frequently asked questions
How much internet bandwidth does a venue need?
It depends on your venue's capacity and what runs over the connection: guest WiFi, card payments, ticketing, streaming, CCTV and back-office systems. The connection has to be sized for your busiest event, not an average day, with limits on how much each guest can use. We work this out during a site survey and usually recommend a leased line with automatic 4G/5G failover.
How do you keep card payments working when the WiFi is busy?
Card terminals and tills run on their own separate, protected network, with priority over guest traffic. Busy guest WiFi can't slow them down, and a problem on the guest network can't reach them. Keeping payment systems separate is also a basic requirement of the payment card security standard (PCI DSS).
Can you provide WiFi for a football stadium?
Yes. Indigo delivered a stadium WiFi, connectivity and telephony upgrade for Falkirk Football Club. Stadium WiFi needs high-density access point design, careful channel planning, fair-use limits per guest and a connection sized for match-day crowds.
Can you manage WiFi across several venues?
Yes. We manage Ubiquiti UniFi networks from one central controller, so every venue gets the same setup, and we can monitor, update and fix any site remotely. Wonderworld Group's 10 sites are all managed this way.
What if something goes wrong during an event?
We monitor every connection 24/7 and are usually alerted to a fault before it affects customers. If you have failover, a 4G/5G router takes over automatically when the main line drops. For big events, out-of-hours or event-day engineer cover can be arranged in advance.
Book a venue WiFi survey
We'll survey your venue, work out what your busiest day needs, and give you a fixed quote for connectivity and WiFi that keeps the tills, gates and guests online.
