IT Support for Leisure and Entertainment Venues in Scotland
Technology that works on your busiest day.
Indigo Unified Communications provides managed IT support, venue WiFi, connectivity and phone systems to leisure and entertainment businesses across Scotland. Our clients include music and events venue SWG3, Falkirk Football Club and Wonderworld Group, which runs 10 family entertainment sites, and we've been the official mobile supplier to Celtic Football Club since 2022. We keep tills, ticketing, guest WiFi and back-office systems running when the venue is full, from our base in Glasgow.
Technology challenges leisure venues face
In leisure, your busiest hours are when technology matters most. A dropped connection on a sold-out night or a match day stops card payments, ticket scanning and bar service all at once. The problems we see most are:
- Peak-time demand. Thousands of guests on the WiFi, card terminals and ticket scanners all competing for the same connection.
- Card payments. Tills and card machines need a reliable, secure network, kept separate from guest WiFi, to meet payment card security standards (PCI DSS).
- Guest WiFi. Customers expect it to work, even when the venue is full.
- Multiple sites and spaces. Stadiums, multi-room venues and chains of centres need consistent systems across every site.
- Changing staff. Seasonal, part-time and event staff need access quickly and need removing just as quickly, often on shared devices.
- Bookings and enquiries. Missed calls in busy periods mean lost parties, events and memberships.

Frequently asked questions
What IT does a leisure or entertainment venue need?
Most venues need a reliable business connection with backup, well-designed WiFi for guests and staff, a separate secure network for tills and card payments, managed devices for staff, and a phone system that handles busy booking periods. Behind that, they need the same email, Microsoft 365, cyber security and helpdesk as any other business.
How do you stop venue WiFi failing when the venue is full?
We design WiFi for the number of people in the space, not just the floor area. That means more access points, the right placement and limits on how much bandwidth each guest can use. The internet connection is sized for peak demand, and card payments and ticketing run on their own network so busy guest WiFi can't slow them down.
Does guest WiFi need to be separate from our card payment systems?
Yes. Card payment systems should always be on a separate, secured network from guest and public WiFi. It's a basic requirement of the payment card security standard (PCI DSS) and stops a problem on the guest network from reaching your tills.
What support do you provide in the evenings and at weekends?
Our helpdesk is staffed 09:00–17:00 Monday to Friday, or 08:30–17:30 on our Platinum package. On Gold and Platinum we monitor your systems 24/7, so we're usually alerted to a problem before it affects customers, and Platinum adds a 24/7 security operations centre. For evenings, weekends and big events, out-of-hours and event-day engineer cover can be arranged at an extra cost.
